William A.Carriger, Sr. Legislative Service Award
The Dr. William A. Carriger, Sr. Legislative Service Award is designed to recognize KOA members who are active in the political process. The award is named in memory of the late Dr. William A. Carriger, Sr. who practiced in Topeka from 1950 to 1990. He was asked to become active in the Democratic party because the KOA didn’t have many members involved in the party. Dr. Carriger worked extremely hard on behalf of the democratic party and optometry. His influence within the democratic party benefited the optometric profession for more than 20 years.
